Purpose of Position: 
To carry out the mission of Ross Christian Church (to make disciples of Jesus Christ) within the context of children (birth to sixth grade) and their families.

Job Summary: 
To design and implement methods and programs that create a discipleship-based life where children can discover their identity in Jesus and become equipped to love others. Develop the RCC’s Children’s Ministry leadership team of volunteers to be a community where individuals can best use their gifts and abilities.

Reports to: 
Senior Minister

Ongoing Responsibilities:

  1. Apply the following RCC values: biblically based, fully devoted  to Christ, cultivating relationships, forgiveness and grace, authentic relevance and innovative, mission driven ministry, God-honoring service, and financial stewardship.
  2. Collaborate with the youth minister and Family Ministry Team to provide leadership to all families of RCC, primarily birth to 6th grade.
  3. Identify, train, and empower volunteer leaders to serve in the Children’s Ministry.
  4. Enlist, equip, and encourage the Children’s Ministry Team to effectively carry out the mission of discipleship to families under the Servant Leadership model.
  5. Provide care (counseling, visits, etc.) to the families connected to RCC’s Children’s Ministry in partnership with church leadership.
  6. Oversee Vacation Bible School, children’s events, etc.
  7. Responsible for Sunday morning programming for Birth – 6th Grade, including room decorations and visual learning tools.
  8. Regularly attend staff meetings.
  9. Manage the Children’s Ministry Budget.
  10. Accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • Professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Committed to ongoing personal spiritual growth and a healthy lifestyle through scheduled, regular prayer and Bible reading and a work schedule that reflects time off for self, family, and service.
  • Understand the role is a ministry, not a job.
  • Models standards and expectations of staff members within RCC, including membership and worship attendance, group participation, and a lifestyle of tithing and generosity.
  • Continuously seek experience and knowledge with a focus on general leadership skills.
  • Practices healthy relational boundaries and fiscal integrity.
