Position Summary: 
The job of the Children’s Ministry Director is to connect kids and families to Jesus through an intentional and engaging ministry strategy. Responsibilities include overseeing and guiding all aspects of children’s ministry, from birth through 5th grade. Duties also include leading and supporting a team of dedicated staff and volunteers in creating an environment where kids can build an authentic, lasting relationship with Jesus. Their role is to ensure that every part of the Children’s ministry—from the volunteers who serve to the families they support—aligns with the purpose of “Connecting Kids and Families to Jesus”.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the NextGen Director to develop and implement a strategy and processes for leading children into a deeper understanding of God, His Word, and His Church to help them all become relentless, loving servants of Jesus Christ.
  • Develop and implement a plan to equip parents to better fulfill their role as the primary spiritual leaders of their children within the home and to oversee Child Dedication.
  • Provide parents with culturally relevant information to help them communicate more fully with their children by bridging the gap between them and their students.

At the Peak, we currently have over 250 kids attending our weekend services. Our team has cultivated an incredible culture, and the results of our ministry are evident. As we look to take the next step, we are excited to hire a new Kids Director who can help elevate our program. This role will focus on equipping families and creating unforgettable weekend services, as we seek a leader who can help us build a strong and stable foundation for growth.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, direction, oversight, and care for the Kids’ Ministry staff and volunteers. This includes clear and regular communication of direction and responsibilities and performance evaluations within the ministry.
  • Coordinate a recruitment and training strategy for volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.
  • Oversee the Childcare team which serves other ministries in the church and assist with the hiring process of Childcare workers.
  • Support Shine Ministry and Shine On leaders where necessary. Assist in coordinating integration with Shine/Shine On members in existing programs when possible and creating appropriate special programs when needed.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a biblically sound, effective curriculum for children’s ministry.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to serve within the children’s ministry.
  • Ensure the success of Sunday services by managing first-time experiences, volunteer engagement, classroom environments, and large-group programming.
  • Serve as the staff representative to the Children’s Ministry Team, providing resources, vision, and guidance for programming.

Operations and Safety:

  • Ensure all safety procedures and policies are in place and effectively implemented.
  • Oversee scheduling for volunteers and team members to ensure smooth operations.

Oversight, Administration, and Operations:

  • As needed, plan and conduct events that build bridges for the NextGen ministry including, but not limited to, all Sunday services, outreach, and annual and seasonal events.
  • Communicate with parents, church staff, executives, the congregation, and others about the Children’s Ministry. Speak to the congregation in the main services when requested.
  • Maintain effective security and safety protocol within the Children’s Ministry that includes check-in and check-out procedures, maintaining secure areas, teacher policies, background checks, emergency plans, and classroom rules and procedures.
  • Provide instruction and training for parents and children regarding the ordinances of baptism and communion, leading kids in the process of surrendering their lives to Christ and assisting with baptisms as requested.
  • Implement a strategy to reach and bring new children and their families into the life of the church. This includes a follow-up plan for new attendees.
  • Tactfully respond to questions and address conflicts that arise in the Children’s Ministry.
  •  Oversee text, social media, and email communication with children/parents.
  • Assist with and develop technology, media, and graphics for use in the NextGen Ministry.
  • Request and submit in and out of church marketing for the children’s ministry and bulletin and stage announcements.
  • Work closely with the NextGen Staff to ensure the ministry is fulfilling the overall mission and vision of PPCC and helping other ministries who depend on the Children’s Ministry to do the same.
  • Communicate wins, struggles, needs, and upcoming ministry events to the NextGen Director.

Education Preferred: 
Bachelor’s Degree in child development, children’s ministry, or another related field.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must handle high-pressure and time-sensitive situations with grace and integrity.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and adaptability to changing tasks.
